AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire,” which was made available to viewers on a variety of platforms in the week leading up to its premiere, opened to a modest 1.2 million viewers on Sunday, according to Nielsen.
The drama about the start of the computer boom came in well below Revolutionary War drama “Turn,” which bowed to 1.9 million viewers in April.
Next week will probably provide a better picture of “Halt’s” audience as the pilot episode was sampled in sneak previews in May on AMC.com, Tumblr, TV Everywhere and other platforms.
“The preview generated hundreds of thousands of plays and strong social media buzz – just off the results we can immediately measure” said AMC president Charlie Collier in a statement. “We are happy with the positive response to the show and look forward to sharing the rest of the season with viewers.”
